With Due respect Dr. Sahib, the above treatment is not for pox. These are just the measures to keep the bird's overall health intact while the virus completes its cycle and become dormant or excreted from the body.

First You suggested to wash the effected areas with Normal Saline and Pyodine, which is OK as all are antibacterial means infected area will safe from Bacteria. (a precautionary measure)

Second you suggested various eye drops which are all antibiotics and are effective for infections and one is homeopathic which is effective for cataract issues.

Third you suggested broad spectrum antibiotics as due to Pox bird will have very low immunity thence they cannot attract any other fatal disease therefore, antibiotic is again a precautionary measure.

Fourth Vitamins, which will again supplement the antibiotic to retain the immunity. However, in Pox it is suggested to use Vitamin A more than other vitamins.

So where is the actual treatment of POX?

I am not being pessimistic or over critical of your suggestions, If you have mentioned in your post that all these are suggestive precautionary and supplemental measures to get the bird healthy enough to survive the viral cycle that would be more informative and user will take well informed decision.

My personal opinion is IF the infected bird is young then its chances of survival are very less. AND you should discard the bird immediately if you want other birds safe. AND if the bird is adult then follow all the above instructions by Dr. sahib and pray that your bird remain healthy during the viral cycle. AND you must have to keep your infected adult bird in a proper quarantine.

Last this is all my personal experience not hearsay. I pray and hope that this year proves to be more safer than last year for lover bird keepers.

Re: Pox Virus Treatment specially for Love Birds

I had this problem due to arrival of imported love birds in my set up.....It not only affected my other love birds but had affected one of Rosella pair and a Rump pair....With some similar treatment as Dr Adeel had suggested I succeeded.I used probiotecs with Enrosol-S...and had not used the homeopathic eye medicine as it was not available here.
So a good effort Dr Adeel....
